Turkey’s $1.372B Export in the First Month
Turkey recorded the biggest monthly amount in history in January, with 17.6 billion dollars, an increase of 17 percent. The Aegean Exporters’ Associations contributed $1 billion 372 million to this record by boosting exports by 29%.
Turkey exported 23 billion dollars’ worth of agricultural products in 2021. Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) alone realized 22 percent of Turkey’s agricultural product exports with the export of 5 billion 100 million dollars. With this ratio, it was recorded as the export champion of the year. While this success is expected to increase further in 2022, the export rate in January is promising.
Industrial items account for 811 million dollars of the 1 billion 372 million dollars of exports realized by Aegean Exporters’ Associations in January consists of an increase of 32%. On the other hand, agricultural products chalk off for 473 million dollars with an increase of 27%.
Aegean Region Skyrocket in Export by Sector
Aegean producers managed to increase their agricultural product exports of 4 billion 358 million dollars in 2020, by 17 percent in 2021. Olive and Olive Oil Exports Had the Biggest Rise
Aegean mining exporters; a 16 percent rise contributed 87 million dollars in foreign money to the country. The Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association had the biggest export rise in January, at 245 percent, with a total export of 26 million dollars.
The Aegean Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters’ Association raised their exports by 83% in January to 209 million dollars. Aegean Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exporters’ Association, on the other hand, registered as the second association with the highest export volume. It had an increase of 8%, with 129 million dollars.
Moreover, Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, which exports the most among the Agriculture and Food Unions, left January behind with 109 million dollars, an increase of 28 percent.
Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association realized an export of 92 million dollars in January with an increase of 22%. On the other hand, Aegean Mine Exporters’ Association, reached 87 million dollars in exports with an increase of 16 percent.
Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds, and Products Exporters’ Association increased its exports by 65% in January. Aegean Furniture Paper and Forest Products Exporters’ Association has increased by 27%. Additionally, Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association increased its exports by 11% to 63$ million. The Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association signed an export of 51 million dollars, an 8% reduction.
EIB’s Exports are Increasing
He said that 11 associations increased their exports in January, while one association lagged behind the previous period’s performance. It did not go unnoticed that this rate is a magnificent increase all across Turkey. President Jak Eskinazi of the Aegean Exporters’ Association assessed the export condition. He stated that the future was brighter as compared to previous years. Eskinazi remarked that “In January, when Turkey’s exports climbed by 17%, we, the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, raised our exports by 29%. Our export growth is higher than the national average. In the first month of 2022, the import-export coverage ratio was 62.8 percent.”
He also emphasized that exports should go further and production should be given importance in terms of country development. He also stated that the interest and loans to be applied for this should be regulated. Eskinazi stated that “As the Aegean Exporters’ Association, which has realized its 2023 target in 2021, our only expectation is to make arrangements so that the exporter can pay.” He continued his words by saying that more production equaled less foreign dependency.
In January, the Aegean Region provinces’ exports totaled 2 billion 82 million dollars. In January, İzmir, one of Turkey’s most export-oriented provinces, generated 1 billion 104 million dollars in exports.
